No doubts this title should go to the Greeks, (or the so called Hellenes) and proudly be held by them.
I dont know if it started recently or was descented from the unscrupulous Eastern Romaioi rulers, but the following claim, says all:
  ....every kind of philosophy and form of knowledge is a discovery of Hellenes.....

I also won't make any further comment on his other claim that:

but I will point out, that I like the comparison between "pears and apples".
