"Moreover, you scorned our people, and compared the Albanese to sheep, and according to your custom think of us with insults. Nor have you shown yourself to have any knowledge of my race. Our elders were Epirotes, where this Pirro came from, whose force could scarcely support the Romans. This Pirro, who Taranto and many other places of Italy held back with armies. I do not have to speak for the Epiroti. They are very much stronger men than your Tarantini, a species of wet men who are born only to fish. If you want to say that Albania is part of Macedonia I would concede that a lot more of our ancestors were nobles who went as far as India under Alexander the Great and defeated all those peoples with incredible difficulty. From those men come these who you called sheep. But the nature of things is not changed. Why do your men run away in the faces of sheep?"
Letter from Skanderbeg to the Prince of Taranto ▬ Skanderbeg, October 31 1460

Helsinki watchdog says Albanian elections fail to meet world standards

Balkans.com Correspondent - 31.08.2009
The Albanian Helsinki Committee (AHC) reported that violations marred general elections in Albania on June 28, which it says failed to meet international standards.

AHC said in a report that in some municipalities family members were allowed to enter voting booths together and vote as a group, rather than separately, a trend that was tolerated by the commissions of regional polling stations.

It also criticised the Central Election Commission for announcing results before all votes were counted.

The group deployed 150 observers during the election, monitoring 700 balloting centers in the country’s main districts, and 25 vote-counting centers.

AHC (www.ahc.org.al) is a non-governmental organization founded in Albania in 1990 that joined the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights in 1992.

Growing up I was taught to "Treat people as I wanted to be treated", but as time passed and I met more people, I made my own version which is fair: "Treat people, like they treat you".

The chief of the Albanian Helsinki Committee (AHC), has been elected PM from the Socialist Party of Albania, so its consideration is not reliable, it's otherwise completely tendentious , issued from a person close to Edi Rama, leader of SPA, interested redoing the elections , therefore blaming them for not meeting the standarts.

Let's not forget that following information was in the news from other organizations such as OSBE/ODIHR who had almost exactly the same concerns and reservations while the voting was going on. We are not sure as how their final report will be yet, but we are certain that what we are reading here is nothing new, as it is in the news in their own words.
