The Praetorian Guard
The increasing Gothic and Scythian pressure on the northern frontier along the Danube led Rome to make constructive use of its warlike Illyrian subjects. Many were enlisted in the Roman legions while others were settled in colonies along the northern frontier to form a buffer zone. The Illyrian soldiers performed so magnificently that many of them were selected for service in the Praetorian Guard, Rome’s elite bodyguard for the emperor. A remarkable number of these men were also promoted to the top of the ladder and were known as Illyrian soldier-emperors. These incredible Sons of the Eagle were worthy descendants of Achilles, Philip, Alexander the Great and Pyrrhus.

Fjala PALIKARI nuk ka asnje kuptim gjuhesor ne greqisht, por nuk ka dyshim qe ajo hyri ne gjuhen greke, gjate ""Revolucionit Grek"" , per te pershkruar luftetaret shqiptare, ne gjuhen e tyre te vatres.

* "Palikari" is a difficult to translate word, as it is unique to Greek language. In the song "Saranta Palikaria" (from "Odes") the translation is "brave men". Here, the word does not mean this thing, but it is used a compliment to the qualities of the "man" nature, the overall power, natural "manly" beauty and muscular power.

Pajtohem Erix77. Interpretimi i mesiperm i tekstit prej meje nuk e mohon kete qe thuani me plot te drejte ju. Madje do te thosha qe shqiptaret si populli i pare autokton europian qe pranoi Krishterimin dha edhe martiret e pare, te cilet me vone u konsideruan shenjetor.

Sa i perket 'shenjtoreve' sic eshte Leka i Madh, Burri dhe Skenderbeu, ata gjithehere paten nje status te larte duke formuar nje trinitet mbi dymijevjecar. M'intrigon pamase subjekti i kengeve, motiveve,folklorit e ornamenteve te tjera (ndonese te zbehura si pasoje e mos hulumtimit nga ana e studiuesve tane) per Leken e Burrin nder shqiptar.
Leka yne eshte personi qe ze vendin me t'madh ne folklorin boteror. Ai eshte subjekt i kengeve, legjendave e kushtimeve ne Turqi, Kurdistan, Egjipt, Lindje te Mesme, Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan, Taxhikistan, Kashmir, Indi Veriore, Etiopi, etj. Madje ne Taxhikistan e kane shpalle nje dite- feste shteterore kushtuar Lekes se Madh. Pra per Leken si per aske tjeter kendohet e kujtohet edhe pas 2000 e sa vjeteve pas.

Ketij thesari me vlera boterore i shtohen edhe visaret e trashegimise aleksandrine ne vendin e tij t'origjines - Shqiperia (Epiri, Maqedonia). Leka kujtohet me admirim prej Ulqinit, n'Shkoder, Theth, Mat, Diber, Lure, Himare, etj. Eshte nje pasuri e vertete!
